Eel benefit

Here’s some photos and film from the Eel’s benefit night, which took place a couple of Sundays ago. The night featured five bands (as well as four DJs, a film, an indoor market selling clothes and bric&brac, and a raffle!) – Plaistow, Tea and Toast, Cherry Mash Cherry, Jesus Licks and ….some other whose name escapes me. All put in good performances – all linked in some way to folk music (avant-folk, indie folk etc)…Tea and Toast perhaps put in the most eye-catching display with their hand-made animal (of some description) costumes and scintillating performance. With a big crowd showing, the night raised lots of funds which will go towards the August bank holiday street festival, which (all things being well) will be headlined by Ruff Sqwad and Chicks on Speed. Another benefit night will take place at the Bethnal Green Workings Mens Club between now and then…details to follow.

The band who's name I forget

Jesus Licks - banjo player Nik Clifford top, vocalist Dom Golden, guitarist Danny Wootton and drummer Kate Squires

Tea and Toast - any guesses about which animals are on display?

Finally a short film of the performances – no live audio (music by Tea and Toast and then Jesus Licks)
